The reports we get on Habeas’s whereabouts are difficult if not impossible to confirm. But we got a postcard over the weekend from a father from Highlands Ranch, Colorado, who was traveling in South Dakota with his family of four:

“Dear FindHabeas.com:My kids wanted to go to Disneyworld for spring break, but I told them we’d have more fun and maybe learn a little on a road trip to Mount Rushmore.I didn’t think that’d mean learning about habeas corpus, but right when we got out of our car beneath the monument, my daughter Jenna tugged on my pants and said ‘Daddy, look!’ She pushed her binoculars into my hands and pointed at George Washington. At first I couldn’t see what she was talking about, but then I noticed a little green figure scaling the side of Washington’s face. I thought maybe they were making a movie, or that something even stranger was going on, but before I could look a second time, the little man had crawled into Washington’s ear and disappeared from sight. Now my daughter keeps begging me to buy her one. You folks don’t happen to sell them, do you?”

The National Parks police investigated the claim and have it logged as a potential appearance of Habeas, but search of the monument yielded no clues to his whereabouts. If you see Habeas near any of our national monuments, historic sites, or anywhere in your area, please let us know as soon as possible. E-mail your tips to aclu@aclu.org.
