This year's ACLU Lobby Day at the 2008 Membership Conference promises to be an incredible experience and a great success! With over a record-breaking 250 Hill meetings scheduled thus far, more than 1,000 ACLU members from every
state and territory will have an opportunity to meet with their respective congressional offices to on some of our highest priority national issues: . Many of you will have an opportunity to meet face-to-face with and tell them first-hand what you as a constituent would like them to do!
I can almost feel the excitement already as we dash out of the ballroom following a special tribute lunch honoring ACLU President Nadine Strossen (a.k.a. Superwoman!), and hop onto buses for a quick ride to Capitol Hill, where we'll march our way through the halls of Congress! Just think what an impact we'll have with congressional offices and the buzz we'll generate among on-lookers as we work the Hill that afternoon in multiple delegations, identifiable to all while wearing Lobby Day stickers and carrying our ACLU briefing folders!
While at the Membership Conference, please stop by our Lobby Day table (located next to the main registration table) to say hello to our staff and to pick up your lobby materials. Also, you won't want to miss our Lobby Day training sessions (Sunday and Monday from 3 to 4:30 p.m.) to get a better sense of what will take place during your Hill visits and get up to speed on the three issues so that you can be an expert ACLU lobbyist for the day! If you haven't signed up for Lobby Day yet, please do so today. You won't want to miss out on this great opportunity to make your voices heard!
Thanks in advance to all those members participating in what promises to be an extraordinary day in ACLU history! I'm looking forward to seeing you in D.C.!
