Bio
Terry Ding is a staff attorney with the ACLU’s State Supreme Court Initiative. He joins the SSCI after four years at the New York Civil Liberties Union, where he litigated a wide range of civil rights and civil liberties issues, including challenging the prolonged detention of immigrants, discriminatory voting practices, and deficient medical care for incarcerated people.
Before working at the ACLU and the NYCLU, Terry served as a law clerk to Judge Edward Chen of the Northern District of California and to Judge Michelle Friedland of the Ninth Circuit. Terry is a graduate of Harvard University and the New York University School of Law, where he was a Root-Tilden-Kern public interest scholar and a member of the Immigrant Rights Clinic.
