Bio

Josh graduated from Bates College in May 2015. His thesis was on mass incarceration, racial control, and the criminal justice system. Prior to joining the ACLU Human Rights Program, Josh worked at Children’s Health Fund, and performed research concerning LGBT citizenship for Stephen Engel’s book, Fragmented Citizens: The Changing Landscape of Gay and Lesbian Lives. His previous research experience includes studying the use of democratic education methods in a community school in Northeastern Brazil and a historical examination of institutionalized racism in the American criminal justice system, and in the area of gun policy in particular.
