Bio

Emily Reina Dindial is a senior policy counsel in the National Political Advocacy Department where she works on local, state, and federal legislation related to decarceration and decriminalization with a focus on predatory tickets, fines, and fees. Prior to joining the ACLU, Emily was a policy analyst at the Innocence Project where she worked to address contributing causes of wrongful convictions such as prosecutor misconduct and unvalidated forensics. As a member of the Jails Action Coalition, she advocated for expanded access to visitation and voting in NYC jails. She served as an ABA advisor for the Uniform Law Commission Fines and Fees Committee and on the drafting team for the federal omnibus BREATHE Act proposal. She is a graduate of the University of Arizona and Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.
