Bio

Destiny Ruiz is a Paralegal at the ACLU’s Voting Rights Project in New York, NY. Prior to joining the ACLU, Destiny worked as a Basic Field Grant Program Coordinator at the Legal Services Corporation in Washington, D.C.

Destiny graduated from Wesleyan University, where she majored in the school’s Science in Society Program and concentrated in Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. During her time at Wesleyan, Destiny had firm stakes in the community including a volunteer role at a local women’s center and research work at Community Health Center, Inc (CHC). At CHC, Destiny worked closely with Spanish-speaking patients experiencing chronic pain and providers to improve treatment. Destiny also conducted research in the Critical Health + Social Ecology (CH+SE) Lab (formerly at Wesleyan), which included a project that sought to highlight the experiences of female identifying activists of color from across the country who worked to minimize displacement.
