Bio

Annie Kurtz is a Senior Staff Attorney at the ACLU of Colorado. She litigates and contributes to integrated advocacy efforts across the affiliate's issue areas. Annie joined the staff after spending two years with the legal department as an Equal Justice Works Fellow. As a fellow, Annie focused on community-led strategic litigation and advocacy calling for a humane and evidence-based response to houselessness in Colorado. Before joining the ACLU, Annie served for two years as law clerk and judicial assistant to Justice Monica M. Márquez of the Colorado Supreme Court. Annie graduated from Harvard Law School, where she worked as a student attorney and, later, as a clinical instructor at the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau, representing low-income clients in eviction, foreclosure, family law, public benefits, wage and hour, and SIJS cases. Prior to law school, Annie worked as the senior litigation and research assistant at GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) in Boston. She appreciates a good cup of coffee, the mountains, her wife, and their two giant Bernese Mountain (lap) Dogs.
