Bio

Andrew Perry joined the ACLU of Louisiana in 2023. Before his legal career, Andrew served as an officer in the United States Army, separating in 2019 as a captain. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point with a bachelor’s degree in Arabic. During his time in the Army, Andrew was active in the LGBTQ+ servicemember community, helping to form support networks in the immediate aftermath of the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell and leading Knights Out, the association of LGBTQ+ West Point alumni. He deployed as a brigade-level personnel officer to Kosovo and was stationed in South Carolina, Texas, and Georgia. Andrew left the Army for law school and graduated from Tulane Law School. While there, he interned with the ACLU of Louisiana and rekindled his passion for service. He served as a student attorney in Tulane’s First Amendment Clinic. He was a managing editor of, and published twice in, the Tulane Journal for Law & Sexuality. Andrew also served as the second President of Tulane’s Student Veterans of America chapter. Andrew holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Arabic from the United States Military Academy (2013) and a Juris Doctor from Tulane Law School (2023).
